Dubai: Watch out for blowing dust this weekend, as the wind is picking up to 40km/h in cities like Dubai and Abu Dhabi.

According to the National Centre of Meteorology (NCM), the weather is expected to be fair to partly cloudy this weekend, with a probability of some convective cloud formation in eastern regions by afternoon that may be associated with rainfall.

    Dust in the air

However, the dominating feature of this weekend is likely to be dust in the air, as the NCM forecasts southeasterly to northwesterly winds, averaging a speed of 10 to 25km/h, reaching 40km/h along the coast and in internal areas. In open and desert regions, winds are expected to stir up dust particles, which can be an irritant for people with respiratory issues.

In such situations, the NCM advises driving safely, closing all doors and windows to prevent dust from entering buildings, and avoiding direct exposure to dust.

    Mid-30s temperatures

Meanwhile, temperatures are holding steady in the mid-30s today and tomorrow.

The NCM expects humidity to increase by night and Sunday morning over some coastal and internal areas, with a chance of fog or mist formation.

Abu Dhabi, Sharjah and Ras Al Khaimah will reach a high of 37°C today, while Dubai and Umm Al Quwain will peak at 36°C. Ajman will experience 35°C weather, while Fujairah will remain the coolest emirate at 34°C.

    Calm seas

The seas along the eastern and western coastlines are tranquil today, according to the NCM, as both the Arabian Gulf and the Sea of Oman will see slight conditions, with gentle waves on-shore rising to two feet, and waves off-shore rising to three feet.

Here is the complete breakdown of minimum and maximum temperatures across the Emirates today:
