A visit to McDonald’s is becoming an opportunity for children to learn how to stay safe online, thanks to a new awareness initiative launched in collaboration with the UAE’s national cybersecurity campaign, “The UAE Is Safe with Your Digital Awareness”.

Held under the theme “Protect Your Children in the Digital World”, the initiative uses game cards and digital screens at McDonald’s restaurants to introduce young visitors to simple but essential online safety practices.

The activity coincides with Cybersecurity Awareness Month, observed every October, and aims to help children understand the importance of protecting themselves while using the internet and digital platforms.

Learning online safety through everyday experiences

As part of the initiative, McDonald’s restaurants are distributing game cards featuring online safety messages, making cybersecurity awareness more engaging and accessible for children.

Digital screens across participating restaurants also display reminders encouraging children to stay alert online, avoid communicating with strangers and protect their privacy.

The messages particularly emphasise the importance of never sharing personal information, private data or photographs online.

By bringing these lessons into a familiar family setting, the initiative aims to make digital safety awareness part of children’s everyday experiences.

A nationwide campaign for a safer digital world

The activity forms part of “The UAE Is Safe with Your Digital Awareness”, a national campaign launched by the Ministry of Interior in cooperation with Dubai Police and the Dubai Electronic Security Centre.

The campaign aims to strengthen public awareness of cybercrime and online threats, particularly as cybercriminals continue to develop new methods and exploit emerging technologies, including artificial intelligence.
