Dubai: This weekend is bringing cooler weather – temperatures are gradually falling, according to the National Centre of Meteorology (NCM), with rain and fog forecast in parts of the UAE today and tomorrow.

The NCM expects fair to partly cloudy weather today, with a probability of some convective cloud formation eastward and westward by this afternoon, associated with rainfall. The authorities highlighted a decrease in temperatures, starting today, with the mercury sliding below 35°C in the daytime, in some emirates.

    Slow decline in temperatures

Temperatures are in the mid-30s across the country today, and expected to fall further over the coming days.

Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Sharjah and Ras Al Khaimah will peak at 36°C, while Umm Al Quwain will reach 35°C. Ajman and Fujairah will remain the coolest emirates today, with a high of 34°C.

Despite a drop in temperatures, humidity is expected to continue to build up by nighttime, and on Sunday morning over some coastal and internal areas, with a chance

of fog or mist formation. Light to moderate winds, and fresh to strong at times, will carry clouds across the emirates, and cause blowing dust at times.

    Moderate sea conditions

If you live along the western coastline, it may be best to avoid the beach this weekend, due to rougher conditions than usual. The NCM forecasts the following:

Arabian Gulf: Slight to moderate sea conditions, with wave heights reaching up to two feet on-shore, and up to five feet off-shore.

Sea of Oman: Slight conditions, with gentle waves on-shore rising to two feet, and waves off-shore rising to three feet.
