AMMAN — The death toll from Friday’s terrorist attack on mourners attending a funeral at a church in Jordan’s southern Karak governorate has risen to eight, Health Minister Ibrahim Al-Badour announced Saturday.

Speaking to Jordan’s Al-Mamlaka TV, Al-Badour confirmed the updated death toll and warned that another victim remained in critical condition.

“One of those injured in the terrorist act remains in critical condition,” he said.

The latest figures mark an increase from the seven deaths and 27 injuries reported Friday by Jordanian Public Security Director Obaidallah Maaytah.

The attack targeted mourners attending a funeral at Hamoud Church in Karak governorate.

Following the attack, Prime Minister Jafar Hassan declared three days of nationwide mourning beginning Friday, October 23.

Hassan also ordered flags to be flown at half-staff at ministries, government departments and public institutions throughout the mourning period.
