UAE weather forecast: 60km/h dust winds, rain in Fujairah and fog overnight

Dubai: Dust is in the air – make sure you’re protected as you go about your day, as the National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) expects strong winds today, that are likely to gather and blow dust.

Dusty day ahead

The NCM forecasts fair to partly cloudy weather today, in general, with temperatures in the mid-30s. Light to moderate winds, reaching speeds of up to 50km/h at times, in internal regions, and 60km/h in mountainous regions, are expected to cause blowing dust.

Yesterday, dust and dirt stirred up by winds led to a deterioration in horizontal visibility to less than 3,000m in certain coastal and inland areas, according to the NCM. A similar situation is expected today.

In such conditions, the NCM advises being prepared by limiting exposure, and ensuring your doors and windows are locked to keep dust out.

Rainfall and humidity

Meanwhile, the authorities also expect a likelihood of convective cloud formation eastward, in areas like Fujairah and Khor Fakkan, extending to some internal and western areas by this afternoon, associated with rainfall.

Humidity is set to increase by night and on Wednesday morning over cities like Dubai and Abu Dhabi, with a probability of mist formation.

Mid-30 temperatures

As has been the trend for the past few days, temperatures are in the mid-30s across the emirates.

Dubai, Sharjah, and Ras Al Khaimah will peak at 38°C, while Abu Dhabi will reach 37°C today. Ajman and Umm Al Quwain will see highs of 36°C, while Fujairah will remain the coolest emirate at 33°C.

Calm seas

The seas along the eastern and western coastlines are tranquil today, according to the NCM, as both the Arabian Gulf and the Sea of Oman will see slight conditions, with gentle waves on-shore rising to two feet, and waves off-shore rising to three feet.
