Abu Dhabi: Abu Dhabi Police seized 9,237 electric scooters for violating traffic rules and regulations during the first 10 months of 2026.

The scooters were seized for being used on public roads, between vehicles and in lanes not designated for them, posing a danger to riders and other road users.

The Traffic and Security Patrols Directorate said some of the most dangerous behaviours include riding electric scooters between vehicles, failing to pay attention to traffic and not wearing helmets and other safety equipment.

Such practices increase the risk of traffic accidents that could result in serious injuries or deaths, the directorate said.

It urged electric scooter users to ride only in designated areas and paths, wear helmets and protective equipment, and avoid using scooters on public roads or between vehicles.

The directorate stressed that complying with traffic rules is essential to protect e-scooter users and other road users.
