CAIRO — Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi declared Saturday that his presidency will end in 2030, ruling out any constitutional amendments to extend his time in office.

“The year 2030 will mark the end of my presidential term. This matter is completely settled,” Sisi said during a graduation ceremony at the Egyptian Military Academy in the New Administrative Capital, according to state-run Al-Ahram newspaper.

Sisi stressed that Egypt’s constitution “will not be touched,” underscoring the importance of upholding constitutional and democratic principles.

He said the constitution clearly defines the armed forces’ responsibility to safeguard the constitutional order, democracy and the fundamental pillars of the Egyptian state.

The Egyptian president also emphasized the importance of preparing a new generation of leaders capable of assuming responsibility for the country’s future.

“I will not leave the Egyptian state until it is brimming with its own people capable of shouldering responsibility,” he said, pointing to leadership development programs at the Egyptian Military Academy.
