RIYADH β Saudi shipping company Bahri confirmed that two Filipino seafarers were killed in a security incident involving its vessel SIDR while transiting the Strait of Hormuz late Monday.
Bahri said the incident involving SIDR (IMO No. 9854715) occurred at approximately 11:40 p.m. local time on Aug. 31.
βIt is with profound sadness that Bahri confirms the loss of two of its Filipino seafarers as a result of the incident,β the company said in a statement.
Bahri extended its condolences to the families, loved ones and colleagues of the two seafarers and said it was providing full support to those affected.
The company said it remained in continuous contact with the vessel and was coordinating closely with relevant authorities and maritime industry stakeholders while monitoring developments.
Bahri did not provide further details about the nature of the security incident or the circumstances surrounding the deaths.
It stressed that the safety and well-being of its personnel remained its highest priority and reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining safety, security and environmental protection standards.
