UAE weather: Temperatures dip into low-40s as September begins, with possible fog in Dubai, Abu Dhabi

Dubai: With the start of September, the National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) forecasts a steady reduction in temperatures, as the mercury slides into the low-40s.

With fair to partly cloudy weather ahead, the NCM expects the probability of some convective cloud formation eastward by afternoon, and a gradual decrease in temperatures as the week progresses.

High humidity overnight

Relative humidity is rising to 90% by night in both coastal and inland areas today. The NCM expects a chance of fog or mist formation over some coastal and internal areas tonight and early on Wednesday morning. Drive cautiously in such conditions, as horizontal visibility may drop sharply, according to the NCM.

Temperatures in the low-40s

Enjoy a slight dip in temperatures today, as Dubai sees a high of 43°C, Ras Al Khaimah experiences 42°C weather, and Abu Dhabi and Sharjah reach 41°C. Ajman, Umm Al Quwain and Fujairah will be relatively cooler, at 39°C, 38°C and 36°C respectively.

Coastal and island regions are set to experience highs between 40°C and 45°C, while internal regions will be warmer, at 44°C to 49°C.

Moderate sea conditions

Light to moderate southeasterly to northwesterly winds, freshening at times, will average speeds of 10 to 25km/h and increase to 35km/h along the coast and 40km/h inland, according to the NCM. Here are the sea conditions along UAE’s coasts:

Arabian Gulf: Slight to moderate conditions in the Arabian Gulf, becoming rough at times westwards. You can expect waves reaching heights of two feet on-shore and up to six feet off-shore.

Sea of Oman: Slight conditions in the Sea of Oman, with gentle waves reaching heights of two feet on-shore and three feet off-shore.
