Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Sharjah and Ajman will reach 39°C today, while the NCM says temperatures will gradually become more moderate from September.

Dubai: Temperatures have dipped into the high-30s today, as the National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) forecasts a chance of rain in certain parts of the UAE.

The NCM expects fair to partly cloudy weather today, with convective cloud formation in eastern and southern regions of the country by the afternoon. These clouds are associated with rainfall.

You can also expect increased humidity overnight, and during the early morning hours this weekend over some western areas, with a probability of fog or mist formation. Be careful when driving in such conditions, as visibility may drop sharply.

The weather is likely to remain the same for the rest of the month, according to Dr Mohamed Al Ebri, director of the department of meteorology at the National Centre of Meteorology (NCM).

He told Emirates 24/7: “Hot weather is expected to continue during the remaining period of August, particularly during the daytime, especially over inland and southern areas, along with high humidity levels over coastal areas.”

    When will temperatures decrease?

Today, the NCM forecasts coastal and island regions to experience highs between 37°C and 42°C, while internal regions will be warmer, at 43°C to 47°C.

Four emirates – Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Sharjah, Ajman – will peak at 39°C today, while Umm Al Quwain will reach 38°C, and Fujairah 36°C. Ras Al Khaimah will experience a warmer peak of 43°C.

Dr Al Ebri shared details about when the weather is expected to become cooler: “As we approach the end of August and the beginning of September, temperatures are expected to begin a gradual decline. However, this decrease will be gradual rather than sudden. Accordingly, the improvement is expected to begin gradually towards the end of August, become more noticeable during September, while more moderate weather conditions are expected to become increasingly established during October.”

    Calm seas for beach activities

The NCM expects lights to moderate winds, freshening at times, carrying clouds across the UAE today. Sea conditions will remain slight in both the Sea of Oman and the Arabian Gulf, from today through Sunday, so if you’re heading to the beach this weekend, you can experience gentle waves, reaching heights of two feet on-shore and three feet off-shore.

Here is the complete breakdown of minimum and maximum temperatures across the Emirates today:
