UAE weather: Rain forecast for the next five days, starting this afternoon in Fujairah and Kalba

Dubai: Grab your umbrellas. There’s a good chance of rainfall in various parts of the UAE over the next five days, starting today, according to the National Centre of Meteorology (NCM).

The NCM forecasts fair to partly cloudy weather, in general, with the likelihood of convective cloud formation in eastern regions of the country by this afternoon – these clouds are likely to bring rainfall to areas like Fujairah and Kalba today.

Temperatures in the mid-30s

Meanwhile, temperatures are steadily declining into the mid-30s, just in time for cooler evenings at popular outdoor destinations like Global Village, which reopened this week.

Abu Dhabi, Dubai and Sharjah will reach 37°C today, while Ajman will peak at 38°C. Umm Al Quwain will see a high of 39°C, while Ras Al Khaimah will reach 40°C. Fujairah will be the coolest emirate today, at 36°C.

If you’re outdoors in the evening, and returning home late tonight, be careful when driving. The NCM expects humidity to build up by night time, and tomorrow morning over some coastal and internal areas, with a high probability of fog or mist formation in cities like Dubai and Abu Dhabi. With a drop in visibility, it may be difficult to navigate, so the NCM advises residents to stay alert and cautious, especially on the roads.

Moderate sea conditions in the west

The NCM expects slight sea conditions in the Sea of Oman, with gentle waves rising to two feet on-shore and up to three feet off-shore.

However, the Arabian Gulf will see slight to moderate conditions today, with waves on-shore rising to two feet, and waves off-shore rising to four feet.

Weekend outlook

Temperatures are expected to remain in the mid-30s on Saturday and Sunday. Expect rain showers in both eastern and southern regions of the UAE this weekend, with areas like Al Ain, Fujairah, and Khor Fakkan all likely to experience rainfall. According to the NCM, stronger winds may also periodically kick up dust in open or desert areas, so stay cautious when you’re out this weekend.
