TGA forms five specialized committees to oversee land transport violations, grievances

RIYADH — Transport General Authority (TGA) President Eng. Fawaz bin Zanaf Al-Sahli issued a decision to form five specialized committees to consider grievances and violations related to the Land Transport on Roads Law and its Implementing Regulations.

Each committee will have a specific jurisdiction, with one tasked with considering grievances concerning violations of the Land Transport on Roads Law.

A second committee will consider violations of the Implementing Regulations governing taxi transport activities, brokerage in passenger transport by taxi and through electronic applications, while a third will handle violations involving foreign trucks.

A fourth committee will consider violations related to light freight transport and delivery activities, while the fifth will be responsible for violations involving other activities.

The decision defines the jurisdiction of each committee to consider violations falling within its scope and impose penalties stipulated under the Land Transport on Roads Law, while the Grievances Committee will consider grievances submitted regarding violations of the law’s provisions.

The committees will carry out their work in accordance with the rules governing the Committee for Considering Grievances and Violations of the Provisions of the Land Transport on Roads Law. The decision will remain in effect for three years from the date of its issuance.

The legal dimensions of the decision include regulating the process for considering violations and grievances, identifying the committee responsible for examining each type of violation, and ensuring that procedures are carried out in accordance with approved rules.

This strengthens the soundness of issued decisions and their ability to be reviewed under the relevant regulatory frameworks.

The decision also contributes to safeguarding the rights of the parties by providing a clear grievance process and enabling concerned parties to submit objections in accordance with approved procedures.

Penalties may only be imposed within the limits of each committee’s jurisdiction and in accordance with the applicable legal provisions and rules governing the committees’ work.
