Commercial activity at the Unaizah International Dates Season, known as “Naqwa Unaizah,” is accelerating as dates arrive at the Food City in Unaizah.
The event brings together farmers, auctioneers, and buyers. Daily auctions serve as the main link in the dates marketing chain, connecting producers directly with markets.
From the early morning hours, the auction yards receive dates from farms before displays and bidding begin. This commercial cycle provides farmers with a direct outlet to market their crops and shortens the distance between farms and markets.
Unaizah Chamber of Commerce Chairman Khalid Al-Saikhan said the chamber’s efforts, in cooperation with relevant authorities over the past nine years, have helped develop and organize the dates market. These efforts have also strengthened its local and international presence, with Unaizah dates now reaching 65 countries worldwide.
Al-Saikhan noted that the chamber has worked in recent years to increase date exports and open new markets for local products. Its efforts include participating in international exhibitions and events, attracting investors to the food-processing sector, facilitating export procedures, and connecting local producers and manufacturers with opportunities and markets abroad.
He affirmed that the chamber’s participation in Naqwa Unaizah builds on these efforts. It supports the organization of the market, expands the season’s economic benefits, and enhances investment and marketing opportunities in the palm and dates sector. These efforts also help increase the competitiveness of local products and facilitate their access to new markets.
