Strong wind gusts could stir up dust across exposed areas, the NCM cautions, while eastern and southern regions may see afternoon rainfall.

Dubai: The day ahead is being dominated by high temperatures and blowing dust in urban cities like Dubai and Abu Dhabi, while eastern regions like Fujairah may see rain.

The National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) forecasts fair to partly cloudy weather today, with a chance of some convective cloud formation eastward and southward by afternoon, associated with rainfall.

    Dust alert

Light to moderate winds, averaging 10 to 25km/h and blowing from the southeasterly to northwesterly direction, will freshen at times and transform into strong gusts with speeds of up to 45km/h that cause blowing dust.

The NCM advises residents and visitors to be cautious in open and exposed areas, where winds may stir up large volumes of dust.

    Mercury steady in the mid-40s

Temperatures remain in the mid-40s today, across most major cities in the UAE.

Coastal and island regions are set to experience highs between 39°C and 45°C, while internal regions will be warmer, at 45°C to 49°C.

Abu Dhabi will reach 45°C today, while Sharjah will reach 43°C and Dubai 42°C. Ras Al Khaimah will peak at 44°C, while Ajman and Umm Al Quwain will experience 40°C weather. Fujairah will remain relatively cooler at 36°C.

    Tranquil seas

The NCM forecasts slight sea conditions in both the Sea of Oman and the Arabian Gulf, which means you can expect gentle waves reaching heights of two feet on-shore and three feet off-shore.
