Khalid Al Zarooni, Vice-Chairman of the UAE Emirates Cricket Board, was unanimously elected as Vice-President of the Asian Cricket Council.
Al Zarooni was named the new Vice-President after the ACC conducted its Annual General Meeting (AGM) on August 22 in Bangkok, Thailand, with the participation of all ACC member countries.
Al Zarooni’s unopposed election underscores the growing contribution and stature of the Emirates Cricket Board not only in the Gulf region but around the cricketing world.
The Emirati cricket administrator has played a leading role in the growth, development and success of the Emirates Cricket Board ever since his election as the Board’s Vice-Chairman.
His visionary leadership has resulted in tremendous growth of the sport across the UAE, exemplified by the outstanding performances of the UAE’s women’s, men’s and junior teams in regional competitions and their qualification for major ICC events.
Al Zarooni has also spearheaded the International League T20 as the league’s chairman. The ILT20 has, since its inception in 2022, earned recognition as one of the top T20 leagues in the world, focusing on the growth and development of UAE and other Associate Member players through strategic partnerships both in the Gulf region and around the world.
The UAE continues to host some of the biggest international tournaments, including ICC world events and ACC tournaments.
Later this week, the eight-team DP World Women’s Asia Cup will be staged at the Dubai International Stadium – regarded as one of the most popular destinations for cricket in the world.
